Remarriage You 482
Chapter 482 Feel Ashamed
Dorothy, Isla, and Zephyr were already waiting in the living room.
The speaker was Dorothy. Upon noticing someone entering from outside, she looked at Harrietta, and her eyes lit up instantly.
"You're my great-aunt, right? Thanks for the compliment, Great-aunt Dorothy," the little girl said with a laugh, flashing a few of her pearly baby teeth.
"Oh! Such a sensible child. Come over here and let me have a look at you."
Harrietta, undaunted, walked over and sweetly said, "Great-aunt Dorothy, are you from the same generation as my grandma? You look so much younger than her."
If Tamara, who was being dragged to the airport, heard that, she would be speechless.
Dorothy burst into laughter, pulling out a monetary gift from her pocket. "What a sweet talker you are! Here you go. This is a little something from me as a first-meeting gift. Take it."
"Thank you, Great-aunt Dorothy. Great-aunt Dorothy, I'm sending you a heart."
Feeling the thickness of the monetary gift, Harrietta smiled even wider.
The atmosphere in the living room became warm and cozy.
"Hattie, I'm going to call your great-uncle downstairs," Dorothy said as she got up to go upstairs.
Zachary glanced at Zephyr on the opposite couch. "This is..."
Taking advantage of the situation, Isla said, "This is my brother, Zephyr. Hattie, this is your uncle."
Zachary raised an eyebrow before letting his gaze fall.
He had met Isla's brother, who seemed to be Sophia's ex-boyfriend of mixed heritage, once in Newcove.
"Hello, Uncle Zephyr," Harrietta greeted Zephyr politely as she looked at him.
"Hello. This is a greeting gift from me," Zephyr said, patting her head gently as he handed over the monetary gift. Harrietta took it and gave it a squeeze. It's really thick!
She was grinning from ear to ear when she said, "Thank you, Uncle Zephyr. You're the best, Uncle Zephyr."
With a smile, Zephyr asked, "Hattie, I heard you grew up in Lofbury?"
"Yes."
"You should be able to adapt to life in Muprary. Would you like to go to Fairlake with me? My family is quite wealthy, and your granddad and granny would also provide you with many monetary gifts," Zephyr uttered openly in front of Zachary. Zachary's expression turned slightly solemn. "That won't be necessary."
Zephyr glanced up at him, a hint of disdain visible in his eyes behind his glasses. "What's the rush, Mr. Fuller? Hattie hasn't even spoken yet."
"Zephyr..." Isla frowned, desperately signaling Zephyr with her eyes.
"I don't want to go!" Harrietta pouted at Zephyr. "Uncle Zephyr, don't pick on Uncle Zachary."
"You're quite defensive, aren't you?"
"That's right."
At that moment, Matthew and Dorothy descended from the upstairs.
Zachary introduced them, "Hattie, this is Matthew, your great-uncle."
With the monetary gift clutched in her small hand, Harrietta looked up at her formidable great-uncle, blinking her eyes. She sweetly said, "Hello, Great-uncle Matthew."
A warm smile spread across Matthew's face as he settled down on the couch. "Hello. You're Harrietta, right?"
"Yes."
"How old are you?"
"I'm five." Harrietta held up her tiny five fingers. "I'll be attending kindergarten in September."
"Such a good girl."
"Great-uncle Matthew?"
""Hmm?"
"Your monetary gift is peeking out from your pocket."
"Haha! You cheeky girl." Matthew laughed, handing over a thick monetary gift to Harrietta. "Here you go. I hope it's enough."
Her hands were nearly too full to hold anything more. She squinted her eyes in laughter and said, "It's enough."
"Uncle Zachary, could you hold these for me? Please, make sure not to lose them." Harrietta handed over all the monetary gifts to Zachary. "All right."
Zachary slipped them into his pocket.
"How are you Hattie's uncle?" asked Dorothy.
"She's so used to calling me that way, and she hasn't yet managed to change it."
"Don't just stand there. Have some fruit."noveldrama
Harrietta walked over and picked three large cherries from the fruit bowl on the table. She toddled over to Matthew and offered him one, saying, "Great-uncle Matthew, have a cherry." "All right. You should eat too."
"Great-aunt Dorothy, have some a cherry."
She handed the second one to Dorothy, and Dorothy said, "Oh? Thank you, Hattie."
Everyone was watching to see who she would give the third piece in her hand to. To their surprise, she popped it into her own mouth, puffing her cheeks out adorably.
"Hey! Hattie, spit it out now!" Dorothy exclaimed in fright, fearing that Harrietta might choke.
"Dorothy, there's no need for concern. Hattie can spit out the pit on her own," Zachary said.
At last, Dorothy felt relieved. "Is that so? That's good, Hattie is really clever."
Harrietta chewed a couple of times, spat out the cherry pit from her mouth, and tossed it into the trash bin. What's so clever about this? Isn't spitting out fruit seeds the most normal thing? Upon seeing Harrietta tossing the cheery pit into the trash by herself, Dorothy complimented her, "Hattie, well done!"
Dorothy thought the child was intelligent because she had taken after Zachary.
Harrietta didn't know what to say in response.
"Matthew, look. Don't you think Hattie's lips bear some resemblance to Meredith's?"
Meredith was Matthew's sister, and she bore the formal name of Zephyr and Isla's mother.
Upon hearing this, Matthew took a careful look and nodded. "Indeed, there are some."
"My daughter will surely have some resemblance to Mom." Isla laughed. It's quite a coincidence.
That would only make everyone believe even more firmly that Harrietta was her child.
The group had been chatting in the living room for a while when Matthew said, "Zack, could you come upstairs with me?" "Mhm."
Zachary stood up alongside Matthew. Turning to Harrietta, he advised, "Hattie, listen to your great-aunt. Understand?" "Got it."
Upstairs in the study, Matthew settled down on the couch. "Zack, sit."
Zachary took a seat across from Matthew.
A housekeeper came in, bringing a pot of hot coffee.
Zachary took the initiative to pour a drink for Matthew. "Mr. Xenos, please."
Matthew took a sip of coffee, his gaze lifting to meet Zachary's. His expression was solemn when he said, "If it wasn't for Isla telling me, I wouldn't have guessed that you and Isla shared such a deep connection." "I feel ashamed." Zachary lowered his head.
"You should indeed feel ashamed." Matthew watched him, his imposing aura growing increasingly intense.
His tone was casual, yet it commanded attention.
Any girl who had been wronged
before getting coaxed into not calling the police and giving birth to a child would undoubtedly leave her parents seething with anger. It was only natural for the parents to want to seek justice for their child.
The atmosphere within the study fell silent for a few seconds.
"At that time, I was oblivious to the situation. It is only after all these years that I came to know about it. However, I realize that Aunt Tamara and I have indeed hurt Ms. Isla. Therefore, this is my sincere apology." Zachary presented three documents, placing them separately on the table. He then slid them one by one toward Matthew. "Mr. Xenos, please take a look."
Matthew glanced at Zachary, briefly scanning the documents before him. "You're quite efficient. If I hadn't called you over..."
The first document was about transferring five percent of his shares to Harrietta. Until Harrietta came of age, he would hold them on her behalf.
Given the market value of Fuller Group, that five percent shares were worth tens of billions.
The second document was a medical record. The patient, Tamara, was diagnosed with a mental illness after a thorough examination by the doctor.
It served as a safeguard for Harrietta and a restriction for Tamara.
With this medical record, Tamara would face restrictions on her future entries into the country.
She had always been headstrong and obstinate, prone to obsessing over trivial matters. She had hoped to use Isla to break up him and Lenora, but she hadn't considered that sla's family might hold her and Zachary accountable for this.
However, one of them was
Harrietta's father, and the other was Harrietta's grandmother. It seemed from Isla's words the previous day that she had some fondness for Zachary. Matthew was not Isla's parent and had no close relationship with her. He wouldn't actually send them to jail, but they would
inevitably have to pay some sort of price.
Hence, the third document revealed that Fuller Group had donated two hundred million to the government, which was intended for public welfare construction.
