The CEO’s little ones

Chapter 342

Chapter 342:

In the morning, at dawn, Hayden went to Scarlett’s house with fruit and flowers. Nathan had to go to P-Town to work, so he left for the night. When Hayden went, there was only Scarlett at home pruning flowers in the living room.

“Miss Downey is here.” The maid opened the door and ushered Hayden in, “You are a very polite person. Whenever she comes, she always brings a lot of things.”

Before Hayden could say anything, Scarlett’s voice came from inside the parlor. “You always bring me fruits and flowers, am I a sick person?”.

Hearing that, Hayden went to her and said hurriedly, “Don’t say that!”.

Scarlett looked her in the face, “Even though you didn’t finish your studies and went to U.S.A., you have studied medicine, why do you still believe in superstitions?”.

Hayden smiled and took a seat on the couch, “I prefer to believe it. I also hope you have health and a long life.”

“Good thing you’re not killing me.” From the moment he walked in the door, Scarlett didn’t smile at him. She even cut the good flowers accidentally. Hayden looked at the pieces on the ground and po a few seconds he felt sorry for them.

“Are you still mad about what happened last night?”. Hayden simply stood by the little table and watched as his aunt cut the flowers, “It’s not worth it for her to be angry. It’s bad for your health.”

“It’s really not worth it?” Scarlett frowned, “It was the first time we all met the Beckham Family and they still embarrassed you. Now I’m afraid they’ll bully you after you marry Joseph. Your second uncle and their families were rude and embarrassed us.”

Hayden was touched, listening to her she knew Scarlett cared about her. She took her aunt’s arm and leaned intimately on her shoulder. “There are many people who respect you, you will never lose face. No matter what they’ve seen, Joseph and Grandpa don’t care what happened last night. Not to mention they also know I have nothing to do with them.”

“Do you think they’ll want to stay away from you?” He started to get angry, “Even when they didn’t treat you in the past, they still wanted you to help them. They are such scoundrels.”

“I wouldn’t have helped them anyway.”

Scarlett raised her eyebrows, “And you shouldn’t, they’re shameless. If your grandfather hadn’t adopted him, he’d be working in the fields right now.”

Scarlett was still the same woman she remembered from her childhood. She could still scold people without a hint of pity. As a child, she was afraid to listen to her, but now it felt warm to hear her.

“Auntie, don’t worry, it’s all over now.” Hayden smiled.

Scarlett looked down and looked back at Hayden, “Girl, I’ve found you to be very optimistic. I don’t need to worry about you.”

“That’s not quite true.” Hayden shook his aunt’s arm and said, “I still want you to help me with the wedding. If you don’t help me, I won’t be able to do it right.”

Scarlett lost her temper, “You’re ready to get married, but you’re looking more and more like a child.” Although he was complaining, but he still worried about her.

Happy women were like children in that they had nothing to worry about. “I really wish Joseph didn’t have a child, I don’t want you to be a stepmother. You can’t be mad at the child and if you treat him right, people will think you’re trying to make Joseph happy, plus if he suffers anything, they’ll blame you too.”

Hearing that, Hayden became serious and said, “I want to tell you something and I hope you won’t be scared.”

“What is it about?”

“It’s about Noah.” Hayden pursed his lips, “I want to tell you his identity.”

It was already dark. Benjamin helped the waitress clear away the tables and chairs. The number of tourists visiting the ancient city during the winter vacations was increasing. There were a lot of people.

“Benjamin, does the landlady still have a cold?”. The waitress cleared the table while conversing with Benjamin. She was a little worried, “I haven’t seen her out for several days. Even if she has a cold, she can’t always stay in the room.”

Benjamin frowned and looked in the direction of the second floor. He could see the closed wooden door. It was the mother’s room. “It’s too cold, she’s afraid she’ll get sick if she goes out. I’ll bring her food later.”

“Okay.” The waitress nodded and asked, “Why are you two back together? Last time I asked you, you said you were busy and could only come back on New Year’s Eve…”.

Benjamin said indifferently. “I’m not busy anymore.”

“Then…”.

“Lily, why are you asking so many questions?”. Benjamin was impatient. He snatched the rag out of her hand, “You can go to the service desk and clean up. I’ll finish up here, you’re too noisy.”

“Like I want to talk to you.”

The waitress didn’t get angry, but merely sighed. She rolled her eyes and went to the front desk.

“No wonder the landlady was always worried that you wouldn’t find a girlfriend. You have such a bad temper that no one will want to be with you.”

Benjamin was in no mood to argue with her. Since they had returned from N-Town a week ago, his mother had stayed in the room and wouldn’t come out. The waitress brought her food every day, but she hardly ate. He noticed she was thinner when he saw her this afternoon.

The sky was getting darker. Today was the ancient city festival. Most of the guests were out on the lake to put up lotus lanterns.

Suddenly, the inn was silent. Lily was dozing when she suddenly heard the wind chime ringing on the door curtain.

“Is this the Maple Sugar Inn?”

A male voice sounded and Lily suddenly awoke, “Yes. Would you like to check in?”

“Yes.”

“Did you make a reservation?” The man, black hat and camera in hand, shook his head, “No, I came in a hurry, are there any rooms free?”.

“Wait a moment, I’ll check.” Lily checked on the computer and, when she looked up again, smiled again, “Fortunately, there is an empty room. But it’s almost New Year’s Eve and the cleaning workers have left, I haven’t had time to clean it yet. Can it wait a while?”.

The man nodded, “Okay.”
