Chapter 285
Two days later, the seniors' midterm break had ended.noveldrama
Some teachers from the physics department were also keeping an eye on the school forum.
In the office, Frank Coffey, the physics teacher of Class 5, said in a mocking tone, "I heard there's a physics genius in our school, and he's from Class 7. Solved the bonus question on the midterm, didn't he? Mr. Taylor, your student is impressive." Simon Taylor, the physics teacher of Class 7, momentarily froze upon hearing this.
Even at school, the teacher's office wasn't free from politics and rivalry.
Simon and Frank never really got along, always trying to outdo each other.
Even though Miles was the target of criticism on the forum, Simon didn't want to be mocked. He replied with a serious face, "I'm aware of Miles's academic performance. He's usually at the bottom. This time, he's just trying to get attention." Frank was surprised by Simon's blunt honesty, especially since he wasn't even defending his own student. With a hint of contempt, Frank remarked, "I recall that Miles used to perform quite well in Class 1. What changed in Class 7..." He left it at that with a smirk, eager to see how things would play out.
Class 1 was known as the advanced class among students.
Miles used to be the top student in the advanced class but was now ranked at the bottom in Class 7.
Frank was clearly suggesting the teachers of Class 7 weren't competent.
But Simon didn't think it was his fault, and he retorted, "Our school has students changing classes every year. Grades can fluctuate with each exam. Should teachers always be blamed for that?" Seeing that Simon was getting serious, Frank could only offer a sheepish grin and say, "I didn't say that..."
The other teachers were already used to their subtle jabs at each other, so after watching the drama unfold for a bit, they quickly stepped in to mediate.
"In my opinion, Miles is really out of line. If he doesn't do well in his studies, that's one thing, but to show off on the forum, that's a matter of character. He needs some serious guidance!"
"Exactly. I couldn't even figure out the approach to that problem myself. There's no way Miles solved it on his own. He's just showing off online to seek attention and praise, which is a very unhealthy attitude."
"He likely couldn't cope with the shock of his grades dropping from first to last place. Unable to solve problems at school and feeling belittled, he found the answer online
and flaunted it on the line
"You know, it's typical for young people to seek attention with such antics. It's quite understandable."
While they were all chatting, the vice principal of the school, Leo Harrington, who was also the head of the physics department, happened to walk into the office. Overhearing the teachers' discussion, Leo, unaware of the undertones, asked excitedly, "You mean someone actually figured out the bonus physics problem?"
Simon lightly touched his nose and quietly said, "Mr. Harrington, a student did post a solution to the bonus question on the forum, but it wasn't his own work..." Leo, slightly puzzled, said with a frown, "If it's posted, why isn't it his own work? Let me see."
Although he was getting on in years, he wasn't a complete dinosaur. He had also downloaded the school forum.
Intrigued, he took a look and, upon seeing Miles solution steps, he slapped his thigh and exclaimed,
"Genius, absolutely genius! Whynet.
didn't think of applying high-energy physics to solve this problem?"
"Which student solved this problem? I want to meet him!"
Hearing Leo's words, the other teachers exchanged confused looks, all turning their gaze to Simon.
What do you think?
