Chapter 99
"Mommy, I'll give you a back rub!" Hailey kicked her shoes off and climbed up the sofa. Tiny fists began pounding on her shoulders. "Mommy, I'll massage your legs!" Julian came over as well, concentrating seriously while his little hands went to work on her legs. Tristan and Lilith joined in, too. Lilith helped Hailey with Willow's other shoulder, while Tristan got started massaging her other leg. Such young children wouldn't have the strength to actually loosen up her muscles and joints for her, of course... but they did Willow's heart much good, and she instantly forgot her fatigue, as she basked in the love and affection she was receiving.
Lara came out from the kitchen with a pot of food, and noticed her daughter's condition straight away. "Willow, I've never seen you like this before! What happened at work today?"
As she continued to be pampered by her darling children, Willow answered, "When I arrived at work today, everyone was gossiping about the CEO and his secretary. For some reason, the secretary believes I'm the one who started all the rumors. It's a terrible misunderstanding."
"Set her straight, then! We shan't be framed for crimes we didn't commit." Lara was always nagging about how Willow ought to do better in life, but she also demanded that Willow hold to basic moral principles: No stealing from anyone, for example. Also, stand up to bullies.
"I've tried to tell her it wasn't me, but the thing is... yesterday, when I was cleaning the CEO's office, I accidentally caught sight of the secretary confessing her feelings to Jasper Hughes. She saw me, and that's why she's convinced that I'm the one behind this." "Now, that's a pickle," Lara said, with sympathy. "You'll need to find some sort of proof, to clear things up."
Willow wouldn't be able to quit her job until this situation was resolved. If she did, it would look like she was trying to escape her guilt.noveldrama
Willow understood this too, of course. That was why she herself didn't mention quitting her job.
"Today, I was cleaning Mr Hughes' office again, and I noticed he has a security camera in there. There must be a recording of the scene from yesterday, which I can use to prove that I wasn't eavesdropping on that conversation between the two of them. Tomorrow, I'll ask Mr Hughes to examine those recordings, and get to the bottom of this matter. Don't worry, mom."
Willow showed her mother a confident smile.
When it came to her daughter, Lara was strict to a fault... nevertheless, Willow still confided in her mother, and sought her advice on all kinds of matters, because she was rich with life experience and wisdom, and she also had a firm grasp of moral principles, so she always knew what the right thing to do was.
So far, she'd never steered Willow wrong.
"Alright, then. Why don't you go wash up, so we can start eating?"

After dinner, Willow watched television in the living room, together with her mother and her aunt.
Meanwhile, the four children huddled together in their room, holding a very serious conference.
"Mommy's in trouble. Let's think of how we can help her." This was Tristan, eldest among the four, and the chairman who'd called this meeting to session.
"Urgh, poor mommy... she's so weak
and helpless... why are people
always picking on her?!" June
moaned, his beautiful dark eyes full of pity for his mother.
"Well, I'm going to hug Mommy all night, so that she won't cry." Hailey's voice trembled as she said this, her eyes brimming with tears.
Lilith raised her hand to table a proposed action: "Tristan, I'll follow Mommy to work tomorrow, and tell her boss that she's not a bad girl." ""No, you're too little," Tristan shot her down.
"Hmph." Lilith was displeased.
With wisdom beyond his years,
Tristan considered his brother Julian
for a moment, then reached an executive decision: "Tomorrow, Juliam and I will go. The two of you will stay here, and play with grandma."
The next day, Willow arrived for work on time, and saw the lift doors closing.
"Hold on!" she called out, hastening her footsteps. "Wait for me!"
Breaking into a run, she just managed to make it in before the doors closed shut. It was crowded inside, full of other people who had also just arrived for work. Right away, she noticed that everyone was giving her strange looks.
It had to be because she'd been running like that, bursting into the lift and causing a commotion. Willow gave everybody apologetic little smiles and nods.
One of the women suddenly
remarked, "Isn't this that cleaning.
woman who was spreading rumors about her special relationship with Mr. Hughes? Goodness, you'd expect him to get his wom excused from cleaning duties, at least!"
What do you think?
