Chapter 45
Jasper looked coldly at Edith. When he saw the worried look in her eyes, he frowned. "After all, she's Yvette's cousin. I've got to show her some mercy. By the way, you don't seem too well these days. You can take a break from tomorrow on." Edith had been Jasper's secretary for many years. She had always performed her duties professionally. All this while, she had kept her emotions hidden and had never once crossed the line.
Over the past two days, however, Edith had made frequent mistakes. It was either letting random kids into the CEO's office to wreak havoc or revealing her emotions which were neither elegant nor polite. Jasper needed highly capable and professional people around him to do his bidding.noveldrama
The way a secretary was evaluated was based on her ability to remain calm under stress and whether she could stay indifferent yet polite.
If his employee were to constantly exhibit strong emotions on the job, he would rather not keep such an employee around.
Edith wanted to say something, but she knew from the cold expression on Jasper's face that he would soon get angry.
Saying anything further would only make Jasper feel more annoyed.
Edith could only bite her tongue and nod before turning around and making an exit. Despite returning to her office, she still couldn't calm herself down after a long while.
Did Jasper really only show Willow mercy and let her stay because she was Yvette's cousin?
The more Edith pondered on this, the more afraid she felt. There was an increasing sense of danger.
Willow had only come to Hughes Corporation for a few days, and Mr. Hughes had already broken so many rules for her.
Willow certainly had many tricks up her sleeve.

After leaving the CEO's office, Willow went to the sanitation department. She told her manager that she wanted to take half the day off to rest.
In reality, she knew that her act of stealing someone else's identity had been exposed. Mr. Hughes would definitely not keep her around. She was only waiting for the news of her termination at work. Instead of waiting for the HR department to inform her that she was being fired, she chose to leave and salvage her last bit of reputation.
After slipping out of the CEO's office, Rachel went to find Willow to leave with her.
Rachel pursed her lips and seemed apologetic. "I'm sorry, Willow. I had no idea you used your aunt's identity to land a job in Hughes Corporation. If I had known, I wouldn't have called you by your name."
It was Rachel's fault for exposing Willow and making the latter lose her job.
Willow chuckled and patted Rachel on the back of her hand. "Why do you seem sorry? I'm not blaming you. Besides, it really was my fault. It's only a matter of time before they found out. I only used my mother's identity so that the money could be transferred to her account directly when I received my pay. She could then buy whatever she wanted for the children without having to ask me for money."
Although Lara complained a lot, she had a big ego. She could ask Willow for money once or twice, but any amount more than that would hurt her ego. As a result, Lara would start throwing tantrums.
Willow knew this about Lara all too well. That was why she had been using Lara's identity to apply for jobs.
Anyway, all the jobs she had found were low-level jobs that required people who were relatively older.
"What are you going to do now? You've just lost your job." Although Rachel wasn't particularly bright, she could still understand what Jasper meant when he asked Willow to leave. Wasn't he firing Willow?
Rachel held Willow's hand and seemed genuinely concerned for her.
"I'll find something else. Nothing can take me down. It's just a job. If they won't let me stay, somebody else will." Willow smiled in a positive manner. She seemed very cheerful.
Coincidentally, this was when they arrived on the first floor. The elevator door opened.
A tall, scrawny man stood before them. He had on an unzipped, thin, black windbreaker, a white shirt, and a pair of black pants. With his shirt tucked in, his legs appeared unusually long. He had the perfect physique. There was a devilish smile on his handsome face. He seemed both aloof and flirtatious at the same time.
What do you think?
