My Four Miraculous Treasures

Chapter 41

Jasper looked at the door. Just as he thought, that woman had arrived. With a broom in her hand, she was probably here to clean things up.

Wasn't she Lara?

What did Rachel call her? Willow?

Was Nason her last name?

Edith, who was already flustered at this point, heard Rachel calling Willow by her name. She then noticed Jasper's face had suddenly turned gloomy. This made her even more nervous.

Edith's heart was thumping. It felt like she might be exposed any second now, and there was a lingering fear that Jasper would kill her with his bare hands.

Willow lifted her head and saw Rachel. She looked at Rachel with pleading eyes.

Willow had also heard Rachel calling her by her name.

The sound of her name made her heart skip a beat. It was over for her. Mr. Hughes, Ms. Price, and Tyson were bound to find out that she had landed a job at Hughes Corporation using a stolen identity. Willow felt certain that she would be fired and face legal consequences.

She was already poor, and now things were getting worse.

Willow was stuck in a limbo. She could neither leave nor go inside. Standing by the door, she felt terribly awkward.

She cleared her throat and was about to respond when her eyes met with Jasper's piercing gaze. This terrified her so much that she could not utter a single word.

"Lara, how many identities do you actually have?" Jasper asked while dropping his pen and leaning against the chair. His cold gaze was seemingly about to pierce through Willow.

He had a judgmental look in his eyes.

The pen spun on the table once before falling to the ground. Its owner's rage could be felt through the clear, crisp sound it made as it hit the floor.

"Mr. Hughes, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to keep it from you. I..." Willow began explaining in a panic-stricken voice.

The most anxious person right now was Edith. She was extremely afraid that Jasper would find out Willow was the woman from five years ago. Edith's heart was about to leap out of her chest. She wanted to say something to cut Willow off.

Suddenly, a woman's shrill voice was heard. It instantly rid the room of its earlier tension.

"Willow, I can't believe you're still here!"

Willow was still clueless about what was happening. A forceful push sent her stumbling to the side, and her back knocked against the doorframe. She soon fixed her eyes on Samantha, who had heavy makeup on and a smug look on her face. Samantha was the one who had pushed her. Why was she here all of a sudden?

Willow frowned. Before she could speak, Samantha began yelling at her angrily. "Willow, I told you long ago to stop scamming people. Since you have a criminal record and cannot work anywhere else, you should go to my company. I'd never discriminate against you for having a criminal record. Why did you have to steal someone else's identity to work at Hughes Corporation? Did you think you could pull this off? Does Mr. Hughes look like a fool to you?"

"Samantha, you..." Willow was stunned speechless. What on earth was Samantha talking about?

She never recalled having a criminal record.

Before Willow could say anything in her own defense, Samantha continued to speak urgently. "I met you here the last time I came. I already advised you to quit and work for my company instead. You refused to listen. Now, you're being caught red-handed. Let's see how you'll explain yourself now."

After putting Willow down, Samantha turned around. Her attitude changed completely while she smiled at Jasper. "My apologies, Mr. Hughes. This is my cousin. She grew up without her father. That explains her weird personality. She never cared much for studying, and she ended up going astray. I cannot believe she actually scammed her way into Hughes Corporation. I'd like to apologize to you on her behalf. I hope you won't hold any grudges against her. I'll talk to her once we get back and make sure she changes her ways." Willow was still in a state of shock. She had no idea what Samantha was up to. Just moments ago, Samantha actually accused her of having a criminal record. Now, she was apologizing to Jasper on her behalf.

Willow pursed her lips and remained silent.noveldrama

If Samantha could calm Jasper down on her behalf, that would not have been such a bad thing after all.

All Willow wanted was for Jasper to let her off the hook.

Jasper frowned. His cold gaze never once shifted away from Willow.
