Cassian returned to the hall, his mind heavy with the weight of recent events. The pack was growing restless, and the tension at the borders wasn't helping. Fenrir's wolves were a looming threat, but Arianna's presence added a layer of complexity he hadn't anticipated. "Alpha," Nathan said as Cassian entered the holding room.

Cassian waved him aside, stepping closer to where Arianna sat.

"You've been working with Fenrir," he said, his voice calm but cold. "What's your plan, Arianna? To deliver Aurora to him and secure your position as Luna?"

Arianna chuckled, the sound low and dangerous. "You think I need Fenrir to solidify my place? He's nothing without me. And Aurora? She's a fool to think she can hide from him—or from me."

Cassian's gaze darkened. "You underestimate her."

"And you overestimate her," Arianna countered. "She's weak, Cassian. She'll break the moment Fenrir lays eyes on her."

Cassian took a step closer, his presence towering over her. "You don't know her like I do. Aurora is stronger than you'll ever be."

For the first time, Arianna's smirk faltered. But it returned quickly, sharper than before. "Strong enough to survive you failing her? Because that's what's going to happen, Cassian. You can't protect her-not from Fenrir, and certainly not from me." Cassian's fists clenched, but he refused to rise to her taunts. "You'll stay here until Fenrir shows his hand. And when he does, you'll answer for your part in this."

Arianna's laughter followed him as he left the room, her voice echoing in the stone corridor.

Later that night, Cassian stood at the edge of the forest, his gaze fixed on the distant tree line. The faint howl of a wolf carried on the wind, and he recognized it immediately as one of Fenrir's.

Nathan approached quietly, his expression tense. "They're getting closer."

Cassian nodded. "Let them come. But we won't be caught off guard."

Nathan hesitated. "And Aurora?"

"She stays where she is," Cassian said firmly. "She's safest in the cottage."

Nathan nodded, though his unease lingered. "And Arianna?"

Cassian's jaw tightened. "Keep her under guard. If she tries anything, deal with her."

As Nathan left, Cassian turned his attention back to the forest, his thoughts churning. He had promised to protect Aurora, but with every passing hour, the stakes grew higher. And somewhere in the shadows, Fenrir was waiting.
