Luna Aurora novel (Alpha Fenrir)

Luna Aurora 20

The following morning, Aurora was helping prepare food for a pack event when she overheard two wolves talking nearby. Their voices were low, but the intensity in their tones caught her attention.

"I don't know how Cassian keeps going after everything that happened," one wolf said. "If my mate had betrayed me like that, I don't think I'd ever trust anyone again."noveldrama

The other wolf nodded grimly. "It's been years, but it still lingers. Losing a mate like that... it leaves a mark."

Aurora's hands stilled, her stomach twisting. She didn't need to ask who they were talking about. The rumors about Cassian's previous mate had been circulating since her arrival, and every mention of it only deepened her anxiety. She turned back to her work, forcing herself to focus. But the words lingered in her mind long after the conversation ended.

That evening, Cassian approached her as she was organizing a storage area.

"Aurora," he said, his tone gentle but firm. "I need to ask you something."

Her chest tightened, but she nodded. "Of course, Alpha."

He leaned against the doorframe, his expression serious. "I know you've been through a lot before coming here, and I've tried to give you space. But I need to know if there's anything I should be concerned about." Aurora's heart pounded. "Concerned about?" she echoed.

Cassian's gaze didn't waver. "You've been keeping something to yourself, and I don't need to know the details right now. But if it's something that could affect the pack, I need to be prepared."

Aurora swallowed hard, her hands trembling. "I promise, Alpha, I mean no harm to the pack."

He studied her for a long moment before nodding. "I believe you," he said. "But remember this pack works best when we trust each other."

Aurora nodded, though her chest felt tight with guilt. As Cassian left, she sat down, her hands pressed to her abdomen. She had been given a chance to come clean, and she had let it slip through her fingers.
