Luna Aurora novel (Alpha Fenrir)

Luna Aurora 12

Cassian's gaze flicked between her and her mother, his eyes narrowing slightly as if assessing their sincerity. "Rogues are not easily trusted," he said after a moment. "You'll understand if I'm cautious."

"Of course," Aurora replied quickly. "We're willing to do whatever is necessary to prove we mean no harm."

Cassian studied her for another long moment before nodding. "You may stay for now, but understand that this is not a permanent arrangement. You will be expected to contribute to the pack and follow our rules. If you prove trustworthy, we can discuss a longer-term arrangement." Relief flooded through Aurora, and she inclined her head. "Thank you, Alpha."noveldrama

Cassian's expression softened slightly. "One more thing," he said, his tone firm but not unkind. "I would like to know your names. And... if there is anything you're hiding, now is the time to say it."

Aurora froze, her heart skipping a beat. She glanced at her mother, who gave the faintest shake of her head. Gathering her composure, Aurora met Cassian's gaze. "I'm Aurora, and this is my mother, Lila. We've lost everything... but we have nothing to hide." Cassian's eyes lingered on her, as if searching for the truth in her words. Finally, he nodded. "Very well. Welcome, Aurora and Lila. I'll have someone show you to temporary quarters. Rest tonight-we'll speak again tomorrow."

As Cassian turned away, Aurora felt a strange pull toward him, a sense of safety she hadn't experienced in months. His leadership was different measured, inclusive, and compassionate, unlike Fenrir's cold authority. It was a difference she couldn't ignore, though she reminded herself that trust was a luxury she couldn't afford.

A young wolf approached, gesturing for them to follow. Aurora and her mother were led to a small but comfortable cottage on the outskirts of the pack's main settlement. As they stepped inside, Aurora felt some of the tension in her chest ease. It wasn't home, but it was shelter. For now, that was enough.

Her mother placed a hand on her shoulder, her expression thoughtful. "He seems like a good man," Lila said quietly. "This pack... it's different. Maybe this is where we can start over."

Aurora nodded, though her mind was already racing. She had felt Cassian's gaze on her, as though he had seen through her carefully constructed façade. The weight of her secret pressed heavily on her, a reminder that starting over was never as simple as it seemed. For now, she would rest. Tomorrow, she would face whatever came next.
