Let Me Go, My Mafia Husband

Chapter 509

Chapter 509 Mate's Betrayal *Blair*

Maddox was busy in a serious conversation with Zander and the Vampire Prince. Sensing my presence, Maddox's head snapped in my direction and our eyes locked. At that moment, time seemed to stand still. The realization hit me like a bolt of lightning, and I could see the same recognition mirrored in Maddox's eyes. However, before I could approach him, I watched as his smile faltered, replaced by panic and apprehension. He excused himself from the conversation he was engaged in with my brother and the Vampire Prince and quickly retreated in the opposite direction.

As Maddox disappeared into the crowd, I stood there, rooted to the spot, feeling a mixture of confusion, disappointment, and a strange longing I couldn't quite explain. It was as if a veil had been lifted, revealing a hidden connection I had never been aware of. Determined to confront Maddox and seek answers, I pushed through the crowd, my red dress swishing around me, catching the attention of some curious onlookers. But I paid no heed to their stares. My focus was solely on finding Maddox, no matter how difficult it seemed.

I scanned the surroundings, searching for Maddox's familiar face, and my heart skipped a beat when our eyes finally met. There was a flicker of something in his gaze, a mixture of longing and regret. Without saying a word, he silently motioned me to follow him. Curiosity piqued, I moved toward him, weaving through the crowd until we found ourselves hidden away in a dark corner.

"Maddox, so you know about it?!" I asked, my voice barely a whisper but filled with mixed emotions and hurt. He always knew it and still hid from me.

He hesitated for a moment before speaking, his voice low and laced with a hint of sadness. "Blair, you need to reject me. Accept my rejection and move on."

Confusion swirled within me, battling against the excitement that had built up at the possibility of finally finding my fated mate. A fated mate was supposed to be a blessing from the Moon Goddess herself. Why would Maddox ask me to reject him?

"But... why?" I managed to utter, my voice trembling with emotion.

Maddox sighed, his gaze fixed on anything but me.

"I've known it since I turned eighteen, Blair. I knew you were my fated mate. But I couldn't accept it. I didn't want a child as my mate, not when I was in love with someone else," he confessed.

His words struck me like a lightning bolt, and pain ripped through my heart. Maddox had waited for me to turn eighteen, so we could both reject each other and go our separate ways. He had taken Emile as his chosen mate, leaving me to suffer the consequences of his decision. Hurt and anger surged within me, fueling a fire I had never known before. I couldn't believe Maddox chose another she-wolf over his fated mate. They said mates couldn't resist each other. So how could he be so cruel to me?

I locked eyes with Maddox, my voice steady and filled with newfound resolve. "No, Maddox. You can not decide for both of us. You should have come to me and talked to me, but you chose to be with a mate and let me live in anticipation. I have been waiting for you all my life, and I am not going to reject you."

"Blair, this is madness. You know we are not made for each other," he glared at me.

"So why did the Moon Goddess pair us as mates?" I challenged.

"It was a mistake," he spat out.

"Mistake?!" I snickered. "Beta Maddox, the mistake has been made, and I won't suffer alone," I announced.

And with those words hanging in the air, the spark of a fierce battle between two destined souls ignited, forever altering the course of our lives.

Someone called Maddox's name, and he left, shaking his head. I watched as Emile hugged him and led him to the dance floor. The tears brimmed in my eyes as I saw him holding her in his arms and peering into her eyes with love. Still feeling confused and in pain, I couldn't stay at the party. So I made an excuse about being tired from my long journey and went up to my room. I tried to sleep, but the sleep was far away from my eyes.

The next morning, as I sat at the breakfast table, Maddox appeared before me. His voice carried a touch of tease as he greeted me, "Good morning, kiddo."

I couldn't help but smirk at his choice of words.

"I am not a kid, Beta Maddox," I retorted playfully. "I'm nineteen now, fully grown up."

Maddox averted his eyes, a hint of tension in his features. "For me, you're still a kid," he gritted out. "Ten years younger."

I leaned back in my chair, challenging his perception.

"Then you need an eye checkup because a man with good eyes can see how well I've grown up, how mature I am, and how ready I am for my mate to claim me," I taunted him, a mischievous glint in my eyes.

Just then, Emile approached and gracefully settled herself onto his lap. They shared an intimate kiss, and my heart stung with a mix of jealousy and pain. I had witnessed their affection since my childhood, but after discovering that Maddox was my destined mate, watching him with another woman became unbearable. Maddox abruptly got up from his seat, his actions betraying his discomfort. Emile frowned, looking concerned.noveldrama

"What's wrong? Aren't you going to have breakfast?" she asked.

Maddox's reply came without hesitation, a clear attempt to distance himself from me.

"No, I'm running late for the training session. I'll grab something on my way," he replied curtly before swiftly leaving the room.

I knew he was deliberately avoiding me, trying to create distance between us. The ache in my chest grew, threatening to consume me.

As I sat there, lost in my thoughts, I found Selena's eyes on me before she gazed at Maddox retreating from the room. Suspicion appeared in her eyes and I had to look away Selena and I had always shared a very close relationship. She was always there for me as my sister. Even when she and my brother were no longer together, I still considered her my friend and sister. So, I was afraid I owed her some explanation.

There was a knock on the door, and when I opened it, I found Selena standing there. Her eyes were intense, looking deeply and searching my eyes. I walked back to bed and felt her following me after closing the door. Selena sat beside me on the bed, her gaze filled with compassion.

"Blair, what's going on between you and Maddox?" she asked, her voice gentle yet persistent.

I sighed, feeling the weight of my emotions pressing down on me.

"There's nothing going on between us, Selena. He's just a Beta of the Moonglow Pack and my brother's best friend," I replied, trying to dismiss her concerns with a shrug.

Selena raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.

"I know you too well, Blair. I can sense that there's something more to this. Talk to me, Blair. What's bothering you?" She noticed the change in me.

I huffed, feeling the walls closing in.

"You're thinking too much, Selena. There's really nothing to tell," I retorted, attempting to push away her prying questions.

She wasn't one to give up easily. Selena moved closer, her gaze penetrating.

"Blair, I know when you're hiding something. You can't lie to me. Tell me what you're keeping from everyone," she insisted.

Frustration mingled with vulnerability, and I couldn't hold back any longer.

"Fine," I relented, my voice barely above a whisper. "I turned eighteen, and I still haven't found my mate."

Selena's eyes widened in realization, and sympathy crossed her features. "Oh, Blair. It must sting to have to wait even longer for your fated mate."

I nodded, my throat tight with unshed tears.

"Maddox... he's my mate," I confessed, the words heavy with the weight of my emotions.

Selena gasped, her hand flying to cover her mouth in shock.

"But he already has a mate," she whispered, her voice filled with disbelief. I nodded.

"I found it last night," I added.

"And?!" her eyes widened as she asked in anticipation.

A surge of anger coursed through me as I remembered the last night incidents.

"He said he would reject me, but I refused to accept his rejection," I spat out, my voice laced with defiance.

Selena's eyes widened further, a mix of concern and confusion swirling within them.

"But Blair, why didn't you accept it? Maybe it's for the best. Maybe you can find another mate, someone who will truly cherish you."

The tears streamed down my face, my voice trembling with pain and frustration.

"Selena, you don't understand. I've been waiting for my fated mate my entire life. And all those years, Maddox knew I was his mate, yet he never told me. I had this

unexplainable attraction towards him, this crush that I couldn't understand. But now I know why... because he's my mate," poured out, my voice filled with a mixture of sadness and anger.

"It hurts, Selena. It hurts that he let me live in false hope, avoiding me since I turned eighteen, only to reject me like this. No, I can't forgive him," I declared, my voice shaking with the weight of my shattered dreams. Selena listened intently, her hands on my shoulder and gently caressing my arms.

"But what about Emile?" she asked, her tone cautious.

I sighed, feeling overwhelmed by the complexity of the situation. "I don't know, Selena, Right now, I'm in a big mess, and still need to figure out

how to accept this devastating t

news it's tearing me apart," I confessed, closing my eyes as the weight of my emotions threatened to consume me. But one thing was sure, I would let Beta Maddox taste his own medicine.
