CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1688

"I was with Nash and the others today," Ben said as he leaned back into the couch. "Jamie, tomorrow I want to take you to an exclusive high-society gala. If there's anything you want or need for the occasion, just let me know."

For Jamie, the idea of attending such events held little appeal. What truly mattered to her was simply being by Ben's side. Yet, Ben seemed determined to introduce her to this world, using his connections and influence to elevate her standing and help her thrive. But Jamie's heart leaned toward a simpler life, one focused on family and the small joys within their home.

"You've already given me everything I could ever want-friends, a safe life, love. I don't feel drawn to these events. Can I skip this one?" she asked gently. Spending time with Charlie and bringing him over to play with Orion sounded like a better plan.

Ben's gaze softened. "If you really don't want to go, I'll respect your choice. But skipping out might not look great. There will be more occasions like this in the future, and it's good practice for what's ahead."

Jamie sighed, understanding his perspective. "Alright. You shower first, and I'll get some vitamin C for you."

Ben smiled and pulled her into his arms. "I've been thinking... I'd love for us to have another child one day. But I know how painful it is for you. I don't want anyone to think we're copying Nash and Nina, so let's take our time. For now, let's focus on enjoying life." Jamie's heart swelled at his thoughtfulness. "I'll go along with anything you decide," she said warmly. She loved him deeply, enough to have raised their son alone during their years apart.

That night, they fell asleep in each other's arms, their bond deeper than ever.

The next day, Ben took Jamie to a classical music concert.noveldrama

Over the past few weeks, Ben had been introducing her to high-society events, giving her the chance to see a world that once seemed out of reach. With her growing confidence and her friendship with Nina, Jamie had learned to handle these settings with grace and ease. But while Ben was deep in conversation with a colleague, Jamie found herself targeted by a sharp-tongued woman.

"I can't believe Ben rejected Summer Larson and chose a nobody like you!" the woman sneered.

Jamie, now polished and poised, was dressed in a stunning custom gown. Her skin glowed with the care she had taken of herself, and she carried an air of elegance that didn't match the insult thrown her way.

"Summer has already faced the consequences of her actions," Jamie replied coolly. "Maybe you should take note of her mistakes before you end up making the same ones."

Jamie wasn't one to crumble under pressure, and she certainly wasn't going to let a petty remark ruin her evening. She didn't need Ben to step in for her. This was a problem she could handle on her own.

Ben was nearby, casually observing the scene.

The woman standing before her, clearly shocked by Jamie's boldness, scoffed with disdain.

"Of course, you're acting so high and mighty. You're just riding on Ben's favoritism. Without him, you'd be nothing!"

She couldn't fathom what kind of spell Jamie had cast on Ben.

He had turned down someone like Summer, a woman from a prestigious family. Instead, he chose Jamie, a woman with modest roots. In her eyes, Jamie offered him no tangible advantages.

Yet here he was, confidently bringing

Jamie to high-society events,

determined to introduce her to his world and make her a part of it. However, a so-called "lower-class" woman could never truly belong in their elite circles.

Smiling, Jamie responded, "Maybe, in your eyes, I'm nothing. But as long as Ben loves me, that's all that matters. The fact that he's chosen to make me a part of his life is enough. Everything else? It's secondary."
